Birthday Climb at the Pig's Spine (Mt. Gulugod Baboy) + Fortalez Island

(c) Rizza Salas x Gulugod Baboy side trip to Fortalez / Oscar Island

To leave you stunned. Towering at 525 MASL, you can purely enjoy Mt. Gulugod Baboy's vibrant scenery of rolling hills, the 360-degree scenic view of Batangas with the West Philippine Sea and dramatic view of the sky in the background.

Gulugod Baboy, means pig's spine, because of the contours of the hills. “Gulod”, however, means hill; “pig’s hill” can also depict the pastoral scene of the mountain. The mountain has three peaks, the first is 470+ MASL "Gulugod Baboy", the second is 485+ MASL "Gitna", and the third which is the highest peak at 525+ MASL "Mt. Pinagbanderahan" (or as what the mountaineers referred to as the real Gulugod Baboy).

Jump-off point: Philpan Dive Resort, Anilao, Mabini

Days required / Hours to summit: Half-day / 1-2 hours

Surviving Mt. Pulag (My First Climb / Summit)

Rizza Salas first summit / climb x Mt. Pulag mountaineer
You will never be crowned if you always back down.

Rizza Salas x Mt. Pulag

Mt. Pulag is known as Luzon’s highest peak and the country’s third, towering at 2,922 meters above sea level (MASL). The locals believe it's a resting place and playground of their gods but also a place where they bury their dead.

Major jump-off: Ambangeg Ranger Station, Bokod, Benguet
LLA: 16°34’58?N 120°53’15?E, 2922 MASL (#3)
Days required / Hours to summit: 4-5 hours / 1-2 days
Specs: Major Climb | Difficulty 3/9 | Trail class 1-2
Trail system: Grand Cordillera Trail, Section 3
Features: Sea of Clouds | Dwarf Bamboo Slopes | Mossy Oak Forest

Mt. Pulag was my first major climb, not to mention my first mountain to summit. Can you imagine the thrill I've experienced and the enchanting chills I felt the moment I conquered its summit? It was beyond magnificent.

Catabolic Café

Its beautifully made interiors, and delicious food will certainly win everyone's heart.

Catabolic Cafe opened its door last August 8, located at 22 Malingap St., Brgy. Teachers Village West, Quezon City. With the fast-growing coffee joints in the Metro, I can say that Catabolic Cafe is a 'not to be missed'.
